Sydney Water - Kemps Creek NSW - Sewer

Scope

 Trafford Civil Pty Ltd were engaged to deliver the construction of a 3.5-kilometre sewer main incorporating dual 600 mm GRP pipelines, forming a critical upgrade to regional wastewater infrastructure. The works included excavation, pipeline installation, access chamber construction, and final commissioning, all executed to stringent quality and safety standards. Key considerations included complex live tie-ins, groundwater management, environmental protection measures, and coordination with local authorities to ensure minimal disruption and full regulatory compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Deliverables

  • Deep trench excavation ranging from 1.5 m to 4.2 m 

 • Installation of gate, air, and scour valves with associated pits 

 • Complex alignment and depth management for high-capacity sewer infrastructure projects of any size and complexity. 

Outcome

 As part of this major infrastructure upgrade, Trafford Civil delivered the 3.5 km dual 600 mm GRP sewer main to the highest industry standards, including full compliance with Sydney Water specifications. The project was executed with precision and care, reflecting our commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and rigorous quality control. Austral, NSW - Sydney Water

 Scope:
Delivery of major trunk water and wastewater infrastructure to support future development and urban growth in Austral, NSW. The works involved the installation of pressure and gravity wastewater systems and extensive trunk water mains across residential and undeveloped areas. 

    Moorebank, NSW

     Scope:
    Delivery of 6.5km of cast in-situ stormwater drainage and 3km of firewater pipelines including hydrants and valves, supporting a large-scale industrial development. Works involved trenching, installation, and reinstatement across a busy and active site requiring detailed coordination. 

     

    Key Deliverables:

    • 6.5km of cast in-situ drainage network, including pits, outlets, and surface connections
       
    • 3km of firewater pipeline with hydrants, isolation valves, and service connections

    Newcastle Inner City Bypass, NSW

    Scope

     Trafford Civil was engaged to deliver complex utility relocation works as part of the early works package for the Newcastle Inner City Bypass upgrade. This involved careful coordination with multiple service providers and stakeholders to ensure uninterrupted service continuity and alignment with the broader infrastructure program. The works were delivered under tight timeframes with meticulous planning, minimising disruption and paving the way for the successful execution of the main bypass construction. 

    Key Deliverables

      • Excavation of multiple bed bore shafts (15 m x 10 m x 3.5 m deep)  

    • Installation of engineered shoring boxes to support bed bore operations 

    • Placement of steel encasing pipe to accommodate 350 mm PVC conduits 

     • Installation of 450 mm concrete sleeve for 150 mm gas main diversion

      • Installation of 150 mm PVC sewer infrastructure 

    Outcome

     Delivered within a compressed schedule, this high-risk and technically demanding project demonstrated Trafford Civil’s ability to manage critical utility assets while upholding the highest standards of safety and environmental control. Through precise execution and effective stakeholder coordination, the team ensured all works were completed with zero asset damage and full regulatory compliance. 

    Londonderry, NSW

     Scope:
    Delivery of 2 kilometres of new potable water infrastructure to service residential and future development areas in Londonderry, NSW. Works included excavation, installation, connection, and testing of new water mains, along with restoration of affected surfaces and coordination with local authorities and utilities. 

     

    Key Deliveries:

    • Installation of 2km of DN180 PE potable water main
       
    • Connections to existing live water infrastructure
       
    • Traffic management across semi-rural and urban interfaces
       
    • Coordination with Sydney Water and local council stakeholders
       
    • Environmental and safety compliance throughout all phases
       
    • Trench backfill and surface restoration to council specification

     

    Outcome:
    The project was delivered on time and within budget, with zero safety incidents and minimal disruption to the local community. All works were completed to Sydney Water standards, successfully pressure-tested and commissioned, ensuring a reliable water supply for existing and future users in the area.

    Rockhampton QLD

    Scope

     As part of the Mount Morgan Water Pipeline upgrade, Trafford Civil was responsible for the installation of 11 km of 250 mm Ductile Iron Cement Lined (D.I.C.L.) water main. The project required detailed planning and execution across varied terrain, with a strong emphasis on durability, hydraulic performance, and long-term service reliability. 

    Key Deliverables

      • Supply and installation of Type 1, 2 & 3 air valves 

     • Multiple directional changes with 11.25°, 22.5°, and 45°bends supported by engineered thrust blocks

     • Full pressure testing and chlorination 

     • Pig swabbing for internal line cleaning and quality assurance

      • Final restoration of disturbed surfaces to local council standards

     This technically complex water infrastructure project was delivered to a high standard, showcasing Trafford Civil’s commitment to precision, environmental responsibility, and strict adherence to safety protocols. Through proactive risk management and disciplined quality control, the team ensured reliable delivery within the project’s technical and regulatory requirements.

      West Caboolture, QLD

        Regional Southern NSW - Watermain Extension

        Scope

         Trafford Civil was engaged to deliver a 10 km water main extension across regional NSW, comprising extensive polyethylene pipeline installation works. The scope included the installation of multiple stop, scour, and air valves, as well as the installation of precast water main pits. Trafford Civil also engaged its own specialist polywelding team to undertake all polyethylene pipe welding works for the project. 

        Key Deliverables

         

        • Installation of a 10 km polyethylene water main
           
        • Installation of stop, scour, and air valves
           
        • Engagement and management of a dedicated internal  polywelding team for all PE pipe welding
           
        • Installation of precast water main pits
           
        • Delivery of works in accordance with project specifications, safety, and quality requirements

         The project was delivered well ahead of the scheduled timeframe, exceeding programme expectations across all work fronts.
